Review of BYP Presents Kris Barras Band | Torquay

First time at the venue and was very impressed.  Kris Barras Band was fantastic, as always.

Great venue for live music, plenty of bars and friendly staff.

Kris Barras; loved the gig, excellent performance & def won't detract from us seeing the band again. 
However...the security staff were blatantly out to make a quick few quid out of people though. The bloke def said "you need to check your bag into the cloakroom". My wife questioned him, but he said "nah, you can't take it in".
She paid the £2 & left an (all-but empty) handbag in the cloakroom. It was only once we were inside that we saw others with bags. I went back & asked the security guard "is it mandatory to put bags in the cloakroom" his reply was "yes". I asked why there were others in the venue that had been let in with their bags to which he replied "well go get it back then".
The gent in the cloakroom was fine about it & even said to us "there's lots of confusion from security about if people can take bags in" & gave my wife her £2 back.
There was a lady behind us in the queue who had been told to put her bag in the cloakroom despite it being empty - she'd specifically emptied it other than money just for the gig. I told her she didn't need to 'check it' & she then took it into the gig. 
We watched as the security staff routines changed as more & more people questioned them. 
They should have been properly briefed in advance & not trying to make a quick few ££ out of genuine gig-goers.

Great venue, but some  people in the crowd. Not thinking of anybody but them self. Lots of pushing to get whare they want,
