Hailing from just over the channel, French DJ and Producer Arno Cost has been making waves throughout the house scene since 2006 when he was signed to Serial Records and achieved a No2 place in the UK Club Charts with his hit remix of 'Under the Fuse of Love'.
The last few years have seen his career rocket, and this weekend he'll be playing for Bitch's 5th birthday party at Venus. We pinned him down for a quick chat about the French house scene, horror films, and why he likes playing in Manchester.
Yes I have been to Manchester for gigs before, plenty of times. The last time I was there was during the bank holiday weekend during the Royal wedding. I had an amazing time, like I always do in Manchester. And I can’t wait to go back there too. The city’s musical history is so rich and it will be great to be part of that. Particularly for Bitch!
I play house music with energy but it is not just all about pounding beats and hands in the air moments for me. I like melodies and a more progressive approach to what I do. I think I will make you dream as well as dance when you see me in a club.
I didn’t really expect anything like this to be honest. But it’s always great to receive such support from your peers. Not only is it a massive help in promoting your music but it’s also great to hear your friends and other people doing what you do are liking the music that you make.
I’ve done so much travelling this last year. It’s been amazing. I‘ve had such fun and met an amazing amount of new friends. It’s been a blast but I don’t think I can pick just one from all the amazing highlights I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy!
(Laughs), who knows if I will able to dress up, I might get into trouble at the airport if they check my bags and find blood splattered clothes, goggles and axes!
I would probably have to say, The Shining. The scene when the blood flows from out of the elevator and into the hall just sends shivers down my spine every single time. Plus I have actually stayed in a hotel that looked like the one in the film... It was a bad night’s sleep that night! (laughs)
Right then, when I spent the night in that hotel in the snow!
France and Paris have always had a really strong house sound. The scene is still thriving now, just like it has been for years. From Daft Punk, Bob Sinclar and Cassius to people like Ed Banger... France is a place where creative people from in and around house music get the chance to thrive. And it happens all weekend, every weekend. Come and join me one time when I am not on the road and we’ll have lots of fun together.
Norman is a great friend of mine for a long time now. He’s a great guy and a good friend to have. I have always enjoyed working together with Norman too – he knows his way around the studio and behind the decks.
Just normal things like relaxing with friends and family really. But I spend so much time thinking, working and talking about music I get less and less time to do these things now. Oh, and watching scary movies (laughs).
I could tell you but I would have to kill you.
Tim is a brilliant producer and DJ and I can’t wait to tear up the Bitch dancefloor alongside him. It’s going to be an amazing night!
