Hi Robert, how's your day so far?

We had Karneval here in Cologne, millions of people on the street doing stupid things… funny!

You recently celebrated your 40th birthday, happy birthday! Do anything special?

Yes, I turned 40, and it was my first birthday party that I've done in maybe 20 years. It was very cool to have a full club singing happy birthday for me.

What do you know about Leeds, are you excited to play the city?

Leeds 53°47'59''N, 1°32'57''W, and yes very exited, as I am not so often in this region of the world.

You record your interactions with a camera when you play. How important is it to combine your music with image and video?

I really enjoy to share my view on the world, and as well it's a way of keeping a diary for myself. I travel to so many places on this wonderful planet.

Do you like the flyer artwork for OYTH?

Yes, own style.

Let's talk about the studio. How long do you spend in there on average in a day?

I usually start around 11am, before I take a walk through the forest to plan what I want to do and get my head clear. Then I work till 6pm or 10pm, depending on the amount of work I have to do.

Do you remember the first track you ever made?

Yes, I do. if my memory was right, I played around with the samples from "pump up the jam" on an Amiga with Soundtracker.

Is there any track of yours in particular that you would dub your favourite?

No, this is impossible. I have made music for almost 22 years, with so many intense moments at the studio, and so many still to come.

And what are you working on at the moment?

Just finished my next album, and also my next Babiczstyle compilation. Besides this, I'm working on a very emotional new EP called HERZ.

How do you like to spend your time when you're not playing/making music?

I am into photography and also film, and for relaxing I love walking through nature.

Would you say clubbing has evolved much since the start of your musical career?

It's changed a lot, and I am very happy it's still changing because this means we are still very alive.

What is your best experience in a club?

The best experience is when I am able to lose myself in the music together with the crowd.

And worst experience?

When I am not able to feel connected.
