Italoboyz: Ten Desert Island Discs

It’s a bit of a humdinger the LWE 3^rd Birthday. Having built up a fervent following across the full spectrum of electronic music genres and disciplines, taking each genre to a wide variety of differing locations. The Birthday sees them getting label powerhouse Moon Harbour and a cluster of artists including Azari & III, Chez Damier, Matthias Tanzmann and plenty more lined up for the event.

With it just around the corner another one of the acts, the Italoboyz, told us about 10 tracks that have been influential on their musical journey which has seen them move from Italy to London.  With a sound that pulsates across acid and jackin house, there’s a few gems in here from then and now.

Bone of her hand 'We are' (Next Century)

This might be the record that we've played the most since the day we bought it. Cross genres, house/techno/jacking/a bit acidic/the most amazing and fucked up vocal... very, very Italoboyz style :-)

Fever new  'Jolly Music' (Nature Records)

This is a yellow 10" record from around 2003, and AN amazing record that we love to play when the situation is really "party, party" mode. It's just driving, jacking, and a bit of rock n'roll... what a record!

House Master Boyz And Rude Boy Of House 'House Nation' (Trax)

We were very young, and there was this club in Italy called House Nation - it was 1991, and the djs used to start and/or finish the night with this tune. It is an eternal masterpiece, that makes you think "I wish I made this record".

Dapayk & Midnight 'Emergency' Fenou

A stunning piece of beauty, it's house but it's more of a song than a track. Every single time I play it, someone comes and beg me for the title.

Leo Young Featuring Mr. Angel 'The Roman Funk Front' (radio mars)

How can a track have such drive even without kickdrum?!

Stato Brado 'Pulsar' (Taken from Fertilizer Sound For Planet Ears on Irma)

So many memories... we used to start our djs sets back in 2003 with this slow tune, and then slowly build up from there.  All the experimental downtempo, we love that stuff big time.

Eddy Grant 'Time Warp'

Does this need any introduction? The soul of music, the spirit of the disco/funk house music. This record is 31 years old and still so contemporary, dark and hypnotic.

Louie Austen 'Hoping' (Matthew Herbert's High Dub) (!K7)

Again, so many memories of our early days when we were playing around bars and little clubs in Shoreditch at the beginning of our career, around 2003-2005.Two amazing minds colliding, Louie Austen and Matthew Herbert, the result could have not been anything below great.

Glitch 'Tiptoe' (Nano Records)

Another one that won't ever leave our bag... it's a bit hip hop but in the housiest and strange possible way. Again, super jacking and with this wicked vocal!

Dinosaur L 'Go Bang!' (Walter Gibbons Mix)

A cult track, and there are endless versions of this tune, all amazing. But this is just... WOW!
