It’s August on the White Isle and officially what the locals like to call ‘peak season’. Whilst you’re probably having to pay double price for a hotel room that doesn’t include air-conditioning or WiFi, the last thing you need is to come unprepared and miss out on the best events on the island. It’s impossible to do them all but this is why we have pulled together our top events for the month in one place...
First stop has to be Wednesday 3rd August at DC-10. Paradise have a killer line-up which features Jamie Jones, Heidi, Steve Lawler, George Fitzgerald and Richy Ahmed to name a few. You can even pair this with the Lost in Ibiza boat party which includes a party on a boat with some of the Paradise residents and special guests then transfers to DC-10.
If you’re looking for a daytime knees up, Craig David is in town every Sunday from 2pm over at Ibiza Rocks with his TS5 Pool Party. Not only has he invited names such as Big Narstie, Preditah and DJ Zinc to join him, Craig also performs all the hits. You have to see and hear it yourself to believe just how much fun it actually is.
Last year marked a new era for Ibiza as the island hosted its first ever electronic music festival and on Friday 5th August we see Creamfields return to Ibiza for the second year (watch 2015's highlights above). With Space closing this year it’s a fitting location for what is set to be an unforgettable summer send off for one of the world’s most iconic clubs.
The festival will see Cream return to its original Ibiza home, having staged its first ever show there back in ’94. The line-up for this is huge and includes Alesso, Armin Van Buuren, Camelphat, DJ EZ, MK, Pete Tong and Tchami among a long list of others. Knowing Creamfields you can be sure to expect a few surprises too.
It’s also Radio 1 Weekend this weekend too. The majority of this will be hosted at Ushuaia with the likes of Kölsch, Annie Mac, Toddla T and many of the other artists that are playing Creamfields Ibiza at Space across the road.
Solomun returns with his + Live evenings at Destino (above) and Ushuaia. Each night will kick off with an opening set from Igor Marijuan followed by a set from artists under Solomun’s label Diynamic. To end the evenings are performances from special guests that are topped off with Solomun as the headlining set.
The event takes place at the earlier time of 5pm-11.30pm and on the 11th August he will be joined by Mathew Jonson who has one of the most distinctive voices in electronic music.
Diynamic’s tenth anniversary celebrations continue with a party at DC-10 in Ibiza on Saturday, August 19th. 11 artists are on the bill for the label showcase, with head honcho Solomun leading the pack. He'll be joined by H.O.S.H, Adriatique, Thyladomid, Karmon, NTFO, Magdalena, Undercatt and Lehar. There will also be live sets from Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Johannes Brecht.
Sundays at Space are an institution and 21st August has one killer line-up to boot. Dusky, Darius Syrossian, Ben Santiago, Green Velvet, Freemasons, Hector Couto, Jimmy Switch, Mr Joseph, Ellie Cocks and a live PA from Dajae. This is one event you want to get down early doors for, just in-time for the sunset too.
Thursday 25th August looks impressive over at Cream, Amnesia. Above & Beyond are in the Main Room alongside Andrew Bayer, Grum and Jason Ross. The Terrace plays host to Duke Dumont, Pete Tong and Tough Love.
Tuesday 30th August and we are back at Space again for Carl Cox – Music Is Revolution (listen to his opening set above). This time Adam Beyer, Carl Craig and Yousef are in the Discoteca; Nicole Moudaber and Julio Bashmore on the Terrace; Pirupa on the Sunset Terrace and a special guest in El Salon. That’s just a handful of the talent playing across the four areas.
Wednesday 31st sees pioneering dance outfit Faithless return to Ibiza Rocks. With over 15 million record sales under their belt, they were one of the first acts to play Ibiza Rocks in 2005 and reunited last summer to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The island is already hugely anticipating this show - it isn’t one you should miss.
Warriors (formerly VIVa Warriors) on Sunday 28th August at Sankeys Ibiza has one hell of a night in-store. Steve Lawler is joined by Skream in the Basement which means we are going to be in for one huge, genre twisting culmination which is likely to be the best of the season yet.
Solardo can do no wrong at the minute either, the duo are constantly selling out parties in the UK and doing their rounds on the Ibiza and festival circuits so imagine then having them, Route 94 and Leftwing & Kody covering bases in LAB too. This is big! Get Warriors tickets here or below.
