With the aim of merging the proto-garage rhythmic fury of The Monks with the tropicália grooves of Os Mutantes, Melbourne’s Bananagun have forged a sound that is loose and unravelling as it is focused and taut, with an aim of creating a real sense of place and environment. “We didn’t want to do what everyone else was doing,” the band say. “We wanted it to be vibrant, colourful and have depth like the jungle. Like an ode to nature.”
