Biography

Pembrokeshire- born, London-based Bryde aka Sarah Howells, Is a girl and an electric guitar playing fierce and fragile song. Now two EPs into her career, having released the stunning, Bill Ryder-Jones produced “EP2” in November 2016, early comparisons have been Sharon Van Etten, Ben Howard and PJ Harvey.

Featuring the amped-up singles “Honey” and “Wouldn’t That Make You Feel Good?”, the release received press coverage from the likes of Sunday Times, Consequence Of Sound, The Line Of Best Fit and CLASH and airtime on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6. Alongside “EP1” it has cemented Bryde’s position at top table of new electric guitar-wielding, lyrically-biting female artists alongside the likes of Angel Olsen, Mitski and St. Vincent.

Bryde’s music deals with human psychology and the darker side of broken relationships but with an infectious defiant and life-affirming quality. Described as being about entangling and unravelling, it sways from tender and delicate, to tough and unforgiving, drawing reviews that reflect this. Early radio support come from the likes of 6music, playlist on BBC Radio Wales and supported by Maz on Radio X & Huw Stephens on Radio 1.

2016 has been a whirlwind year on the live circuit for Bryde: opening for Rufus Wainwright, well-received sets at Dot To Dot, Green Man and Swn, two sold-out London headliners , debut shows in New York, Nashville and Los Angeles and maiden UK headline tour.

With more new music and some European dates in early next year, 2017 is set to be as fast-paced as the last.

“Feral Guitar, Torn-from-the-chest lyrics...sensational" – Sunday Times

“..hers is a voice that deserves attention in and of its own right” – Consequence of Sound

“Bryde is a Welsh songwriter who knows how to hit hard. The newcomer's raw yet deeply personal style recalls early PJ Harvey, while her lyrical wit sits alongside Courtney Barnett.” - CLASH
