House & techno DJ, D&B DJ, Broadcaster, presenter, writer, label head, and now the 1st female host of the BBC Radio 1 Drum & Bass show.
In a world obsessed with stereotypes and genre pigeonholing, Charlie Tee’s no nonsense approach to music is that of any true aficionado; playing tracks that make her feel viscerally. That’s it.
So whether you’re watching her cruise from high energy house to gritty peak time techno, in one set. Or showcasing her more unhinged side rinsing some D&B and jungle at another show, you’re in for a ride.
As a seasoned DJ, she’s brought her unique sounds to a myriad of shows including: Elrow, Hospitality, Fab-ric, Snowboxx, Studio 338, NASS and Boardmasters to name a few.
As a broadcaster Charlie cut her teeth as the host of Drum & Bass Arena’s legendary D&BTV weekly shows, from early. She then went on to spend an impressive 8 years hosting her own Friday night show on the Kiss FM UK networks, hosting guest mixes from iconic names like Hot Since 82, S.P.Y, Seb Zito, Catz ‘N Dogz, and Cristoph. As an advocate for emerging artists also, she helped to elevate some of dance music’s most prolific new stars like Nia Archives, Syreeta, Ewan McVicar, Ammara, AC13, Kara & more.
Her extensive knowledge of electronic music and warm, affable nature, recently caught the attention of BBC Radio 1, where she’s recently been appointed as the new host of the Radio 1 Drum & Bass show. The new
position will see Charlie take on the next chapter for the D&B show, it’s its new prime time slot of Saturday nights from September 2022. Charlie has also covered Radio 1’s most coveted shows including their iconic
Friday night slot Dance Party (Danny Howard), Future Dance (Sarah Story) and the Radio 1 Drum & Bass Show.
Showing no signs of plateauing, 2022 sees the launch of her inaugural imprint Total, slots at Tomorrowland, Glastonbury, Radio 1’s big Weekend and a podcast exploring our wonderfully vibrant underground scene.
