Biography

King Yoof aka Alex Orton-Green has been a major contributor to the development of BASS music, in all of its various incarnations, for as long as DUBWISE bass lines have blazed out of warehouse speaker stacks.

Having starting out as one half of legendry UK Breakbeat outfit, Sonz of Mecha and co-founder of the multi-award winning Breaks FM, Yoof has always been ahead of the game collaborating with many different artists from various scenes, His journey has taken him into a manner of genres that have helped lay the foundation of today’s bass music.

Over the last 2 decades his style has become a culmination of everything that has happened in low-frequency heavy music with an emphasis on Sound system culture. King Yoof has refused to be pigeon holed into one category by crossing the boundaries of Reggae, Jungle, Dub and the many styles of BASS music which has made him a sought after remixer with requests coming in from some of the biggest players in the game such as Dub Pistols, Dreadzone, Mr Williamz, Congo Natty, Caspa, Chopstick Dubplate, Jinx in Dub, Aswad, Altern 8, Wu-Tang Clan & Cheshire Cat to name but a few.

King Yoof’s music has found it’s way into various Dj’s record boxes crossing over into many scenes with support from David Rodigan MBE, Jamie Rodigan, Don Letts, Diplo, JStar, Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Liondub, Caspa, N-Type, The Party Squad, Uncle Dugs, Billy Daniel Bunter, Aries, Shut up and Dance, Freq Nasty, Jaguar Skills, Marcus Visionary, Dj Madd, 6Blocc, Jacky Murda, Reggae Rajahs and many more.

Over the last 5 years since King Yoof’s first release (KING YOOF’S INTERNATIONAL HI-FI) on Sub Slayers, Yoof has graced some of the biggest events such as Glastonbury, Arcadia and Boomtown, Bristol carnival and has toured up and down the length of the country and beyond. His multi genre DJ sets have set dances on fire, well known for playing exclusive dubplate specials and switching up tempos that is constantly building up a vibe. Every so often Yoof will play an unannounced special guest set as witnessed on the famous Music Mondays/RCFF London boat party’s.

Yoof has his own London night called Temple of Boom, a secret warehouse event that encompasses the very best in Jungle / Bass / Old Skool music and has already been tipped as one of the best party’s of 2015

With numerous releases under his belt on the Sub Slayers blueprint, King Yoof has been working on a live Dub album for Moonshine records which has already caused a stir amongst the Dub fraternity and will be released later this year.

Whether you’re into Dub, Dubstep, Jungle, Reggae or Bass music, Yoof crosses all musical boundaries bringing a completely unique sound that only the King can deliver.

LONG LIVE THE KING!
