Melinki, also known as Sonny Symes, is a DJ & Producer from the South Coast of the United Kingdom. Whilst Melinki works in a wide range of genres Drum & Bass is at the heart of everything he does. Growing up in the shadows of legendary jungle raves on Hastings Pier, he was fed a steady diet of drum and bass culture. What started as a healthy appetite for music turned into an addiction.

Through the late 2000’s Melinki put down the groundwork for his future success. In 2009 he won the Valve & Drum & Bass Arena DJ competition which resulted him playing in one of the most renowned Drum & Bass sound systems in the world. This led to a feature on 1Xtra for DJ Target’s “Junglist Soundclash” as well as a feature for MistaJam’s “1,500 Seconds of Fame”. In 2011 he won the Hospitality DJ competition and also saw him break through with his production talents, winning the Innovation remix competition.

With a string of successes as a DJ under his belt Melinki started his own label & club night “U Wot Blud Records”. The label has seen over 30 releases, not just showcasing his own production but up & coming talent too. Most would be content running their own DJ schedule, label and club night but in 2013 he also set up Sky’s The Limit production & DJ school as well as building Bass Music TV a site and custom built studio to stream DJ’s on the Internet.

Despite his hectic schedule Melinki has been hard at work in his new studio crafting his production techniques, gaining attention from the likes of Friction, Roni size, Erb N Dub & Kasra. With releases on Celsius, renegade hardware. Emcee Recordings & Technique Recordings, as well as an arsenal of tracks just waiting to be unleashed, Melinki has made his mark and is only going to make it bigger.
