In the summer of 2015, a meeting of musical minds on the magical island of Ibiza resulted in the creation of the Melon Bomb collective. Encapsulating the very spirit of the island with their unique, inimitable blend of soulful, uplifting house, the Melon Bomb boys, Paul Reynolds, Ben Santiago, Scott Gray & Corbi having been making waves on the island ever since.
Having previously hosted two parties in the main room of Pacha, a true Ibiza honour, as well as setting the dancefloors of Ushuaia, Tanit Beach, Pikes and Jockey Club alight, the Melon Bomb ball looks set to keep on rolling.
Continuing their love affair with Ibiza, they have acquired an almost cult like status on the island over the last few years, with their parties being some of the most hotly anticipated events on the Ibiza party calendar.
Capturing the hearts of island residents is no mean feat, but the island has truly taken Melon Bomb into their embrace, and they have become synonymous for making parties for the people of Ibiza, unpretentious, welcoming, and above all, with the their own inimitable style of music, recreating a vibe reminiscent of the glory days of old here on the island.
2017 has seen the Melon Bomb crew making waves in several of the island´s hottest venues, including the much talked about Hï Ibiza, the new superclub which now occupies the hallowed grounds of Space. Here the boys have enjoyed 9 dirty disco dates at the decadent Glitterbox weekly party, including a mindblowing 16 hour set for the opening party in the Wild Corner, which has now become the coolest location within the club.
Other highlights have included a gig at the iconic Cafe Mambo, arguably the best sunset spot on Ibiza, plus a monthly residency at the legendary Pikes hotel and two daytime partiesat Tanit Beach, which saw the beach simply packed with loyal Melon Bombers soaking up the music under the blue Ibizan skies. The team also got the chance to enjoy some off island action at Glastonbury, where they played to a 7000 strong crowd, as well as tearing up the Southport Weekender.
Never ones to rest on their laurels, whilst they weren’t out and about packing the dancefloor of Ibiza, they also found time to release their own edit EP Tasty Cuts by Melon Bomb, on the Hot Digits record label, which reached number 1 on the Juno charts.
Add to that Paul Reynold´s recent success of winning the much coveted accolade of Best Ibiza DJ at the annual DJ Awards, which this year hit its whopping 20th milestone edition, and the future looks nothing but bright as the Melon Bomb star continues to rise!
So, what does 2018 hold in store for this inimitable crew? Plans so far include several festivals, including Croatia, and undoubtedly many, many more memorable residencies and new gigs on the White Isle. Watch this space for more info!
