The Nine Ton Peanuts play a mix of old school ska, Jamaican boogie, rhythm n blues, soul, rocksteady and reggae.
Their set is almost entirely original compostions by band leader Sir Bald Diddley, whose music has also recently featured in 'Stranger Things' on TV!
Over 20 years The Nine Tons have performed across the UK (100 Club, Jazz Cafe etc.) and Europe, including Freedom Sounds Festival (Germany) and Dance Ska La (France). They have supported The Skatalites and Toots and the Maytals no less.
They have released a clutch of much sought after 45s and an album 'Drop Some Leg'. A new single 'Skaramanga/Rum An' Ting' is just out and a second album 'May Contain Nuts' is recorded and awaiting release.
The Peanuts feature a four horn attack. Between them, the Nine Ton brass section have backed /played with Alton Ellis, Derrick Morgan, Laurel Aitken, Dave Barker, The Clarendonians, Dennis Alcapone, Dawn Penn, Lee Thompson & Dangermen (Madness) Horace Panter & Linval Golding (The Specials) and Steel Pulse.
