21+

Silver Street, Derry

From 9:30PM

Biography

Queen & Disco started out as a way for friends to share tracks and views about music. The main driving force behind it all was the fact that ‘genre’ didn’t matter, so long as what was being played was something you could get into, may it be lyrically or through a straight up groove.

In short, our music policy has a focus on degenrelisation. Bit of a mouthful, but hits the nail on the head as far as we’re concerned. Pigeon holes are for pigeons, and long lists of so called genres just don’t fit the Q&D bill. We play party music and that’s it.

We started throwing parties in May 2013 and really haven’t looked back since. We’ve had some top acts perform for us including Horse Meat Disco, Get Down Edits, Late Nite Tuff Guy, LTJ Xperience, Craig Smith, Dicky Trisco, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel and more. The music though is just one part of it, for the thing to work, everything has to come together. Venue, sound, music, and most importantly of all, the crowd (Which we’ve been absolutely blessed with so far!).

Helping to keep the music spectrum as wide and varied as possible is made all the more easy by the fact that Q&D is made up of 5 members; Barry Crumley, Rajpaul Crumley, Bee Mc Cormick, Marc Mc Laughlin, and Alan Mooney who all bring their own influences to the fore.

Q&D’s three residents (Alan, Bee and Barry) have really started to put their stamp on things outside of our own nights, with guest appearances across the UK and Ireland and , as well as numerous european dates. With radio shows, local residencies, and a thriving series of Q&D mixes, there are many strings to this bow.

The February 2015 release of Queen & Disco Records first Vinyl, 'The Royalty of Funk EP' has been a real landmark for us and the culmination of a lot of hard work and help from some great friends. Available from all major record outputs, from Japan to America she'll be stocking shelves...that makes us all warm and fuzzy. Vol.2 will be released early 2016 again available from all major outlets.
