Biography

A Ritual Spirit burst onto the alternative scene in 2013 with angsty debut album Carnival Carnivorous, including the singles The Way I Died and Visceral Decay. Subsequent UK tours followed as the boys played from Aberdeen to London and anywhere they could in between, sharing stages with the likes of Warrior Soul, The Rocket Dolls and Sworn to Oath.

When bassist Craig departed in 2015 the band went without a settled line-up until Martin joined the tribe in the summer of 2016. From there A Ritual Spirit went on to headline the Moshville Times Stage at Wildfire Festival 2017 and reach Bloodstock's Metal To The Masses Semi-Final in Glasgow the same year. In 2018 going one better, roaring into the Grand Final and claiming victory, earning a slot at Bloodstock Festival 2018, playing on the same bill as Gojira and Judas Priest.

New guitarist Fuzz joined in early 2019 and this current line-up embarked on several short tours of Scotland and North England before releasing The Antidote EP that November - hailed as "The best thing the band has achieved yet" by one reviewer and "Oozing class from start to finish" by another.

2020 saw the band play a home-town Primordial Radio Presents show, helping raise over £2000 for charity, and complete a short tour before lockdown put a halt to proceedings. Several online shows followed, notably at Breaking Bands Vi{rtual}2 Festival and Frontline Festival Scotland. During the pandemic Oli, Martin, Fuzz & Dave returned to writing and post-lockdown recorded part one of a two part album - Elements I - which will be released in early 2022. Elements II will follow at a later date.

Zion, the first single from Elements I was released on 15th October 2021 with an acompanying lyric video. Second single Underneath will be released on 10th December.
