Adrian Varela writes and performs London-based Rock-Latin-Classical fusion.
AV was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Early years were spent in a number of different countries but mostly in Detroit, where he picked up rock and classical roots.
Upon moving back to Uruguay at the end of the dictatorship these two strands were fused with the local Tango/Latin scene.
In London AV is a member of the world-famous Philharmonia Orchestra. He has put on parallel shows on overseas tours of the orchestra, performing first in the symphonic concert, later playing his own late-night slot in a live music venue (Tokyo, Koln, Frankfurt, London).
Influences range from The Cure, Mozart and Piazzolla to Edgar Allan Poe and Plato.
