The name Alex Ryan has become synonymous with quality trance music over the past seven years, both through his DJ’ing alongside some of the biggest artists in the trance world and through his promotion with now renowned boat party Driftwood in Ibiza and his very successful Filth club night in Ireland.
Alex became a regular name on the trance circuit in Ireland, initially through his residency with the Revolution crew and later with Trancelation, not to mention appearances for one of Ireland’s biggest trance nights Letrik, where he played along side many A-listers, including Eddie Halliwell and Jordan Suckley.
Alex first dipped his toes in the promotion pool in 2006 with his Hospital presents... World News at top Dublin club, Spirit. It was his next venture which really propelled him into the limelight with his residency and launch of his own night, Filth. Filth quickly established itself as one of Ireland’s top club nights, with Alex playing alongside guests such as Kyau & Albert, Jordan Suckley, Bryan Kearney and Paul Webster to name a few. Filth went on to win the Best New Club Night at the Irish Dance Music Awards in 2009, with Alex also being nominated for Best Resident in Ireland in the Club Eire Awards in the same year.
While Alex was establishing himself as a top DJ and promoter in Ireland, he was also doing the same in his second home - Ibiza. There he spent the summers of 2009 and 2010 working for the p.r team of some of the island's top club night's including Cream at Amnesia, Tiesto at Privilege and Judgement Sundays at Eden. And also spinning in venues such as Eden, Savannahs and Play 2. 2011 saw Alex return to the white isle for his fifth season with a concept that was new for even Ibiza, a trance boat party - Driftwood.
Alex’s first boat party project Badush, was a great success, but it was when himself and another guy teamed up that they came up with the concept of Driftwood and Ibiza’s now renowned weekly trance boat party was born! 2011 saw five sold out boat parties, with Alex lining up alongside the likes of John O’Callaghan, Aly & Fila and Solarstone. In 2012 Driftwood became one of the biggest boat parties on the Island showcasing over 30 of the world's finest djs throughout the summer! Every Monday Alex played to packed out boats with guests including Giuseppe Ottaviani, Sean Tyas and Andy Moor to name a few.
In the background to Alex’s DJ’ing and promotion, he has begun taking the next natural progression - music production. He has completed a number of courses in Ableton and other software programs and with his knowledge expanding daily, expect big things in the not too distant future - watch this space!
