Biography

In just a few months, Ansome has managed to carve out something of a niche for himself, and it’s all thanks to his hugely confident sound. Inspired by a raw and urban UK techno lineage, his drums are heavyweight, his percussion fierce and his synths full blooded. All in all that makes for music that grabs your attention and drags you along for an enthralling ride. Littered with his own field recordings, it can be variously eerie or boisterous, but its uncompromising stuff of the sort that anyone from Perc to Karenn would be proud of.

So far releasing the likes of his rough and ready Penny & Pound EP on Bas Mooy’s MORD label, as well as playing alongside peers such as Boddika, 2562/A Made Up Sound and Ancient Methods, Ansome also keeps busy by running his own labels: the first is Disco’s Dead, which releases organic experimental bass and techno sounds from artists like Circula, Chubba and Pulsecode that nod to old school genres like jungle at the same time as facing firmly forwards, and the second and most recent is South London Analogue Material, a vinyl only affair in cahoots with young producer CATCH. He was behind the first release, which came with hand printed artwork, with a series of established and emerging producers soon to appear on the label. As such, expect ever-bigger things from this busy creative talent in the near future.
