In this new generation of UK Urban music, Avelino aka Young Fire is being championed as “the future” by the likes of Wretch 32, Labrinth, Stormzy and Tinie Tempah, whom have all spoken highly of the 22 year old.
Avelino brings innate lyricism, unique vocal tones and intricate production to create an incredibly fresh and original sound. After years of development in UK raps underground scene he released his mixtape ‘Iconic Ambition’, which DJ Semtex featured in his top 5 mixtapes list above Rich Gang, Yungen and Loyle Carner projects at the time. The mixtape also featured fellow MC's Bonkaz & Stormzy - with Avelino going on to be Stormzy’s support act for his first UK tour in April 2015.
Recent years have seen the resurgence of British UK Rap culture and in such a time Avelino's persistence in staying true to himself and his own development inspired Charlie Sloth to call him up for a ‘Fire In The Booth’, describing him as "an absolute animal.” Skepta was quick to voice how impressed he was at the performance "Avelino killed that freestyle." One month later Avelino returned with Wretch 32 for another ‘Fire In The Booth’ (which is generally unheard of) and the performances gained over 2 million YouTube views. Moreover the pair released a joint mixtape which saw him christened as Young Fire through its title ‘Young Fire Old Flame’. From the success of the mixtape came a live show in London, which saw 300 tickets sell out in 4 minutes.
"Can we take a minute to pay homage to Avelino for lyrically keeping up with Wretch 32" - Stormzy
Ultimately Avelino's upbringing did not come from battling and sets like UK Rap/Grime culture indicates, instead he spent his years honing his skills in the studio and as a result has become one of the most promising recording artists in the country.
