Bassistry, the band and award winning production company, were formed by composer/bassist, Marcel Pusey in 1995. Bassistry's self-titled Jazz Groove debut album was released in 1996 through German Indie label, Okapi Records. It featured pianist Dave Maric (Steve Martland Band, Katia & Maria Labeque), Mervin Samuels (Saxophones), Cynthia Simmons (Voice), Philippe d’Amonville (drums) and Andrew Tween (Percussion). Bassistry performed in Germany and in the UK.
In Time, was released in 2005. Featuring some of London's most exciting young players, Duncan Mckay, (Incognito, Primal Scream, etc), Sam Agard (Corinne Bailey Rae), Alex Bennett (Corinne Bailey Rae), Jamie Trowell, Jules Faife (Netsayi) and two fantastically gifted vocalists - Katy Seath and Nicola Bull. In Time was released through HR Records and was reviewed by Jazzwise as "like Incognito and Brand New Heavies but a little grittier. In these days of hackney formulaic radio friendly music this bands raw musicality is refreshing".
Mad About U is the first single from the forthcoming EP. The new material is song based with distinctly minimal instrumentation, but with that characteristic Bassistry groove.
Bassistry Music Productions employs many talented artists. We compose for television, (BBC, ITV and Channel 4), multimedia, education, develop and produce music software (via O-Music Ltd). Bassistry works closely with Sibelius Music Software/Avid Technology who distribute our software worldwide. Other collaborations include producing with Cassell 'the beatmaker' (Akala, Keziah Jones, Plan B). It features Eric Appapoulay (Nitin Sawhney, Natasha Bedingfield, Craig David), Wez and Nat, and Bassistry. Collaborated with Robert Logan.
