Biography

Inspired by the legendary Prescription label and a love of smokey basement deep house, Benedict has produced records for labels including Surface, Freerange and Detroit’s Kolour.

Being geographically placed in an area absent of any interest in this kind of music, the Staffordshire moorlands could not, and did not nurture a developing love of electronic music. It instead drove Benedict to the surrounding cities where he re-rooted himself musically, more specifically in Manchester.

It was in Manchester that he began to regularly attend Development club nights and eventually collaborated with co-promoter and DJ Tom Lynch (Tomson). Benedict released his first solo project on Camio Records in 2009 at 19 years of age, and projects with Tomson after that on Freerange, Kolour, Surface, Tone Control, Hudd Trax and others. The two started the label we_ctrl featuring three releases including remixes from Fulbert and Medlar before a long haitus in production.

Benedict migrated to nearby Sheffield in 2020, starting a party called Machine Soul with co-migrant Sirrey, a regular radio show on Mondo Radio as well as a number of residencies and club appearances. There is new music in the pipeline as well as some exciting parties already planned for 2023.
