Biography

Born from a collective love affair with rock’n’roll’s true roots, BlackWolf’s soulful hard edged sound has nothing to do with throwback purity and everything to do with channeling the music’s contemporary voice. Swagger-laden riffs collide with soulful swells, shuffling rhythms and blues-soaked melodies providing the ideal base for a lyrical content that remembers its own honesty and truth and a live show that feels not only energetic but revitalised.

Alongside playing multiple festivals and high-profile venues such as The O2 Academy Newcastle, Manchester Academy, The Rescue Rooms Nottingham and The O2 Academy Islington, BlackWolf have supported a number of noteworthy acts including Toby Jepson of Little Angels, The Temperance Movement, Voodoo Six, Neville Macdonald of SKIN, Jettblack, Revoker and Voodoo Johnson. In early 2013 BlackWolf were also invited to support The Union (featuring Luke Morley of Thunder) on their entire 2013 ‘The World Is Yours’ headline tour.

In 2012 BlackWolf made their first official release with their début EP ‘Taking Root’. The record was co-produced by former Skindred guitarist, Jeff Rose and was recorded in March of 2012 at Junkyard Studios, Newport, Wales. The EP was later released in early June the same year to critical success. It has gained international and national radio play, including most recently from Planet Rock, and highly positive reviews from online press as well as regional and national magazines.

With comparisons being made between them and successful peers; Rival Sons, The Answer and Alter Bridge amongst others, BlackWolf draw their sound from a multitude of inspirational wells; ranging from the great Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, AC/DC, Chuck Berry and early Guns & Roses to contemporary giants Black Stone Cherry, Mastodon and Avenged Sevenfold.
