“Beautifully brooding songwriting...” CLASH
Through a patient clutch of singles, the raw and anthemic songcraft of Liverpool’s Cavalry has cut it’s own melancholy notch into the city’s vibrant, new music renaissance.
Their dramatic sound harnesses shades between The National and The Maccabees, with delicate texture and emotion pitted against wide-screen guitars and soaring vocals.
Emerging in 2015 with online singles ‘An Understanding’ and ‘Soak', early support from BBC Introducing carried them into the radar of Radio 1, Radio 2 and 6 Music, in addition to nods from The Guardian and Music Week.
In 2016 they cut their first official release: the AA-side single ‘Lucerne/Everything’ on revered indie imprint Fierce Panda (Coldplay, Keane, Death Cab For Cutie) as part of their annual singles club. Capturing the intimate/cinematic duality of the band’s songwriting, both tracks took in airplay on XFM, Amazing Radio, and the BBC – including a handpicked play of ‘Everything’ from Hollywood actress Chloe Grace Moretz on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show.
Led by pulsating online single ‘Heresy’, the band's first full-length EP 'See The Night Perform' arrived in 2017, earning backing from CLASH and The 405.
