Christopher Kearney was the founder, guitarist and singer/songwriter in the band The Aeroplanes formed in 2004. In 2005 the band’s debut EP crashed into the top 5 of the indie charts and the band broke the iTunes record for an unsigned artist in weekly downloads. 2005 also saw The Aeroplanes being featured in the movie The Moguls after Jeff Bridges heard their distinctive sound and personally requested for them to be included on the movie’s soundtrack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVbQl-KUXUs
In 2006 The Aeroplanes played gigs in Germany, Switzerland and the US where they were invited to perform at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. They also performed a full UK tour where they sold out across the country. They then began work on the new album Broken Hearts and Maladies with Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys). Whilst recording The Aeroplanes did not stop touring Europe.
In 2011 Chris set up the band Cold Shoulder again as guitarist and singer/songwriter. The band released 2 EPs and completed a UK tour supporting Liverpool Band Cast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sycFJ_6CaTM
In 2015 Chris was a finalist in a songwriting competition 'Bluebird at the Bluecoat', performing to Bob Harris, Bluebird Café owner Erika Wollam , and Nashville songwriters Don Henry, Jim Lauderdale and Kim Richey.
Chris's songs have been placed in EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing, One Tree Hill, Cold Case, Veronica Mars and Necessary Roughness. Christopher has been a songwriter at Bold Street Studios in Liverpool. Chris has co-written with Rui Da Silva.
Chris won a songwriting competition in 2017 and flew to Memphis to write and perform with Stax Records legend William Bell.
Chris is currently signed as the in house writer with Modern Sky Uk and is releasing 4 singles with an EP.
