Who’s Chris Woods?
Chris Woods is one the UK’s most exciting new instrumental guitarists. Coining the term slap groove to depict his incredible style. At 27 he is already a regular at the world’s biggest and most prestigious guitar shows. Play Music Magazine described him as ‘changing the perceived boundaries of the acoustic guitar’, and Acoustic mag said he is a ‘ tour de force of original technique.’ He is sweeping the nation with his lively and charismatic performances, delivering ear bending compositions, with endearing and emotive stories.
Whats he all about?
Well, Chris Woods has an incredible virtuoso style, but technique is purely a tool to create the stunning and emotive compositions that he does so effortlessly. This player is about creativity and musicality, every note is played with passion and every composition is thoughtfully put together to create a visual image that matches the subject matter and story to an uncanny extent. Chris is a performer and a story teller, who has a passion for tone and colour. His obsession with groove is always evident even in the most melodic of pieces, there is a distinct Chris Woods feel that needs to be experienced. A masterful musician, but it’s only the music he takes seriously, he has a reputation for creating an intimate atmosphere in the largest of venues, making you feel at home through a cheeky and warming welcome.

Graduating from a music degree half a decade ago, Chris has been a hard working musician lending his hand to a huge range of projects, only in the past two years has he pushed his own brand of instrumental guitar, and the response has been astoundingly positive and fast. Performing on the main stage at the all the UK’s significant guitar show’s, travelling across the globe to spread his slap groove and just coming to the end of a busy UK tour he has been performing relentlessly. Promoting his debut EP entitled ‘woodcraft’, including an enhanced tuition section, his performances have been far and wide. His endearing performance style has extended to him giving masterclasses and expert tuition across the country consistently selling out, Chris has a passion for sharing his knowledge. Now also using the ukulele as a way to teach younger people his creative techniques.

The reaction to Chris woods’ music has been explosive and nothing but positive, and the shear pace at which word has spread is telling of how bright his future is. With a close relationship with Martin Guitars, Chris is becoming ever more prevalent in the guitar world, whilst a variety of other tours are planned for 2012 including a move to house concerts to satisfy the demands from his ever growing fan base and the wider industry. His debut tuition book will be launched at NAMM in January 2012 as a pre cursor to his new album to be launched in Germany at the Frankfurt Musik Messe in march 2012.
