Described as "avant-everything experimental folk jazz moxie" (Irish Times), and “exhilarating in its refusal to conform†(Wire Magazine), experimental folk 4tet, Clang Sayne's upcoming UK mini tour promises to be a treat for anyone who likes their songs left-of-centre.
The group began in London in 2008, where band leader, Laura Hyland released her highly acclaimed debut album, 'Winterlands' (2009), featuring various stalwarts of the free improv scene. Returning to Ireland in 2011, she reformed the group with 3 of Ireland's most progressive musicians - each internationally renowned in their own right: Matthew Jacobson (drums) , Carolyn Goodwin (bass clarinet) & Judith Ring (best known as a composer, but here she plays cello and sings).
This now-established lineup's 2017 follow-up with 'The Round Soul of the World' LP caught the ears of critics across various genres from folk, contemporary, improv and jazz, garnering such praise as “A singularly defiant independent voice in the line of Joni Mitchell, Bjork & Kate Bush†(Cormac Larkin, IT Ticket) and "A sonic landscape of real, oftentimes transcendental beauty." (The Thin Air Magazine, Belfast).
