Ers i griw o ffrindiau ddod at ei gilydd yn y
brifddinas i ffurfio cÃ?r cymysg o dan arweiniad
Sioned James yn y flwyddyn 2000, mae
CÃ?rdydd wedi sefydlu ei hun fel un o gorau
mwyaf llwyddiannus Cymru. Mae’r cr wedi
ennill yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol un ar
ddeg o weithiau, a chipio teitl CÃ?r yr Å?yl ar bum
achlysur. Fe ddaeth i’r brig yng nghystadleuaeth
Corau Radio Cymru yn 2003, ac ennill
categori’r Corau Cymysg yng nghystadleuaeth
CÃ?r Cymru ar S4C ddwywaith, yn 2009 a
2017.
Dros y blynyddoedd mae CÃ?rdydd wedi
perfformio amrywiaeth eang o ddarnau ar
lwyfannau ar draws Cymru a thu hwnt, gan
deithio i Barbados a Hong Kong, perfformio
yn Neuadd Carnegie yn Efrog Newydd, ac fel
rhan o wyl Gymreig Ontario yng Nghanada.
Bu’r cr yn ffodus hefyd o gael cydweithio â
rhai o gyfansoddwyr corawl enwoca’r byd, gan
gynnwys Eric Whitacre, Paul Mealor a Morten
Lauridsen.
Since a group of friends came together in
Cardiff to form a new mixed choir in the year
2000 under the baton of Sioned James,
CÃ?rdydd has established itself as one of
Wales’ most successful choirs. It has won
at the National Eisteddfod eleven times, and
claimed the main title of ‘Choir of the Festival’
on five occasions. CÃ?rdydd won BBC Radio
Cymru’s choral competition in 2003, and the
mixed choir category in S4C’s ‘Cr Cymru’
twice in 2009 and 2017.
Over the years, the choir has performed a varied
repertoire on numerous stages in Wales
and beyond, and has travelled to Barbados
and Hong Kong, performed in Carnegie Hall
in New York, and as part of the Ontario Welsh
Festival in Canada. CÃ?rdydd has also been
fortunate to work with some of the world’s
most famous choral composers, including Eric
Whitacre, Paul Mealor and Morten Lauridsen.
