Dan was raised in a small network of caves hidden in a hill side overlooking Penmachno, North Wales. Existing on a diet of wood sorrel and pine needles, he did not experience daylight until the age of 4, when, alone, he set out to explore the big world.
In 1987 Dan enjoyed a brief stint as a Buddhist monk, before continuing with his worldly wonderings. It was whilst travelling in darkest Peru that Dan was first introduced to music. Having been adopted by the Juanhwootw tribe he listened to old Beatles and Gram Parsons records recovered from a crashed cargo plane, it’s rusty carcass worshipped by the Juanhwootw, believing it to be a type of ancient sky god.
Inspired by the music recovered from the downed aeroplane , Dan set about creating his own tunes using his cocoa nut and goat skin strings guitar (a gift from a travelling sage who passed through the jungle one autumn).
His initial attempts at creating music were somewhat unsuccessful: the squawking, murderous sound of his first compositions would attract several hundred monkeys from neighbouring tracts of jungle.
However, as time progressed so Dan was able to perfect his artistry, securing the services of a baboon choir and creating new instruments from the skeletons of small furry animals he trapped using his extensive jungle skills. Dressed in Lima skins, travelling by goat drawn carriage he and his new band set out to conquer the jungle and hopefully woo the local young tribe’s ladies.
However, after an unfortunate incident involving the wife of a local witch doctor, several gallons of palm tree wine and an albino rattle snake, and the deaths of several band members, the tour was sadly abandoned in it’s infancy and the band returned, dishevelled, to their native village.
Un-thwarted, Dan set about forming a brand new musical endeavour, a harmony based pigmy collective, garbed in leopard skins and pigs blood..
