DANI is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist rooted firmly in the contemporary Irish folk scene. Her sound is inspired by the Irish traditional melodies and showbands she was raised with, her songs are reminiscent of Celtic folk tales.
In 2017 DANI travelled to Indonesia to work with instrumentalists KunoKini. DANI + KunoKini collaborated on material sharing songs, stories, and creating new pieces of music. The combination of KunoKini’s exploration of Indonesia’s traditional instruments with DANI’s traditional Irish style of songwriting allowed for a powerful musical partnership. Together they toured Java showcasing their material at the Matasora World Music Festival in Bandung, WeTheFest in Jakarta and performing and completing workshops with Glenn Fredly, Svara Samsara, Sandrayati Fay and Andre Dinuth.
In 2018 DANI + KunoKini collaborated on a Northern Irish residency programme. They performed at Stendhal Music Festival, Belfast Mela and performed to sold out audiences in the Oh Yeah Centre, The Strand Music Centre and The Black Box including a slot on UTV prime time news. The collaboration has since been continued in the studio and DANI will be releasing new material which features KunoKini in Summer 2019.
DANI composed the music for ‘The Silver Branch’ a collaborative project with playwright Alice Malseed which explores the narrative surrounding contemporary abortion debate through the lens of Celtic Mythology. She will release pieces from the performance in Autumn 2019.
DANI has toured Ireland and Europe sharing stages with Wallis Bird, Mary Coughlan, Liza Flume, Sive, King Cedar, and Joshua Burnside working with Dave Stringer and Brenda McMorrow.
