Biography:
Dawn of Elysium are a gothic rock band based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK.
Inspired by a long-standing love for traditional and contemporary gothic rock music, Alec Marlow and Emma Hedley conceived the idea for forming a band at the back end of 2011 after attending local goth clubs "Carpe Noctum" and "Flock". Joined by Phil Holroyd and a couple of other musicians in January 2012, they set about writing and rehearsing some initial material as a 5-piece.
After a couple of false starts and teething problems, the band settled as a 3-piece in March 2012, when the fledgling band was rebooted and the name Dawn of Elysium was chosen. They were joined by keyboard player Charles Shelley in the September just in time for their first gig, after which they immediately entered the studio.
The results were the "Sense of Belonging" EP, which was recorded and produced at Bradford's Voltage Studios by Tim Walker from seminal 80's gothic rock band "Harlequyn". Having grown up through the halcyon days of the original gothic rock movement, Tim managed to capture the essence of the era whilst maintaining a contemporary edge to the sound. Read more on Last.fm.
