Formerly the manager at the legendary Tune Inn Records, studio engineer James Alexander has worked with innumerable producers down the years. Along with classically-trained pianist Richard J Thorpe and veteran trance DJ Lazarus, the three of them make up the artist Defcon Audio, and also run their own label Defcon Recordings.
First meeting up in the summer of 2007, James, Richard, and Lazarus collaborated on a number of tracks, remixing Tuomas J's tune "Life Goes On", before winning the Abora Recordings remix competition for their rework of Med vs Neil Bamford - "One", which was supported by Ferry Corsten amongst others.
Trailblazer is based on an original track from Lazarus now over ten years old, and the 2009 club mix has taken over two years to complete. Defcon Audio also collaborated with several other producers as the Defcon Allstars for a new 2009 remix of the classic Agnelli & Nelson track "Everyday".
With the Defcon label now about to launch and a quality stable of fellow producers behind them, there is much more to come too. The follow up track to Trailblazer will be called Theme From Defcon and demonstrates another facet to their style, with plenty more to come in the future too.
