From sold out arenas, high profile residencies and international appearances to eclectic mixtapes and globally recognised remix work, DJ Big Al is without a doubt ‘in demand’.
After only 6 years as a professional DJ, he has ascended the ranks to have become one of the country’s most sought after party rockers.
Artists
Whether it be a sold out concert venue or an intimate after party setting, Big Al has always found himself working with the biggest artists in the business. The list of performers he has worked with and supported, literally reads like a who’s who of the music industry. Nelly Furtado, Snoop Dogg, Estelle, Mark Ronson, Busta Rhymes, The Game, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Montell Jordan, Fat Man Scoop, Chamillionaire, M.O.P, Mobb Deep, the list goes on and on.
Residencies
As cliche as it sounds the apt question would be ‘where doesn’t Big Al play?’ as opposed to ‘where does he play?’. On a weekly basis he does the rounds at a selection of Glasgow’s most prestigious night spots including Common, Karbon, Kushion and Bamboo.
Remixes
Well known for always incorporating his own remixes and edits into his sets, Big Al’s mash-ups and re-works will soon be available through his very own on-line store. His ‘Calabria Work 2007’ mash-up has picked up support worldwide and has been spun by some of Las Vegas and Hollywood’s most prominent DJs, including Stonerokk, DJ Spider and Steve1Der.
Guest Appearances
Big Al has featured as a special guest outwith his home city of Glasgow, at some of Scotland’s best know nightclubs. In Edinburgh he has graced the turntables at Massa, Faith, Why Not? and Ego. While in Dundee he has guested numerous times for the city’s two biggest dancefloors, Fat Sams and London.
International
To guest outwith your city is one thing but to go international is something quite different. Big Al has taken his sound and style outside the UK on several occasions, most notably to India to play at Elevate in Delhi and to celebrate the opening of Norwegian nightspot Play Bar (Oslo).
Radio
No stranger to radio, Big Al has been a resident expert for BBC 1Xtra’s TXU show, where he was called upon to cast a critical ear over the weeks new releases.
