DJ Silk- aka “silkshutdown” is one of, if not the most versatile DJs to shutdown the UK scene.

Having worked with every artist from Drake to Nas And supplying mixes / shows for all leading brands and radio stations for over 20 years, wether it’s playing at the top clubs around the UK / Europe or selling out his own events on a regular basis, Silk is a name and brand that you need to pay attention to. The success of his events and career he says comes down to a growing loyal following who have supported and continue to support for many years.

Silk for years has been known as the go to DJ for most events seeking that different vibe , his unique style of playing has gained him massive notoriety amongst club goers, wether its throwing down club bangers or those classic old skool singalongs and even the odd dancehall / reggae dubplate thrown in for good measure, if silk's names on the line up they know what to expect .. the slogan " its different" was made for this.

Whenever a Artist came to town silk was given the call wether it was for after party's / concerts or even private parties, they knew not only would he deliver an amazing show but also adapt to any situation, having done shows for the likes of Drake , J Cole , Trey Songz , Rick Ross , Tory Lanez , Nelly To name just a few ... Silk was also asked to help taylor gang (Wiz Khalifa , Ty dolla sign etc ) Prepare for the epic Red Bull Culture Clash in 2016, He also provided a best of donell jones mix which was hosted and co curated by the man himself.

Radio wise Silk has always been involved with radio wether its doing shows for the bbc or providing mixes for bbc 1xtra .. most recently doing the new years eve countdown for bbc 1xtra playing nothing but naughties music (00s) was one of the highlights of the year.

Silk's Throwback brunch and various other sold out events across the country that silk puts on are a testament to his long term following and also the new spotlight that has since been put on him from his successful live streaming shows on twitch and more importantly Instagram lives during the covid pandemic. Silk was able to help alot of people get through a really tough time in their lives . In Jan 2021 Silk did a 12 hour charity live stream for Bliss Charity which raised over £4000 for children born premature, Silk Now an award winning DJ in his own right was awarded "lock down hero " from the mbcc awards voted for by the public in 2021.
