Biography

Vance has been DJing in the Glasgow club scene for nearly 30 years now. Back in the early 90s, Vance got his first gig at the under 18s at the legendary Tunnel Nightclub playing to 1000 kids every weekend at Glasgow's original superclub. Here was where he honed his mixing skills using Technics turntables to a huge crowd every week alongside special guest PAs from amazing acts like The Prodigy and Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo.

Soon after, he obtained a weekly residency at the infamous Tuxedo Princess, a floating nightclub in a ship, at the side of the River Clyde. Vance always managed to play crowd-pleasing sets and literally rocked 'The Boat' as one of their resident DJs.

DJ Vance has been a household name in Glasgow ever since he started weekly residencies at some of Glasgow's main venues, including Victorias Nightclub. He was the DJ at Victorias' legendary Sunday nights for 9 years, playing 5 hour sets with exclusive 12" promos straight from the producers and labels of the biggest anthems at the time. Club classics and dance anthems you wouldn't hear anywhere else in Glasgow unless you came here every week. Back when Sunday night clubbing was unmissable.

Vance was also a resident DJ for 8 years, on a packed Thursday night, at the iconic Archaos Nightclub. At its peak, his weekly 'COP' Thursdays attracted a crowd of 2000 clubbers, playing anything from big house anthems like Sandy B's "Make The World Go Round" to massive trance floorfillers like Rank 1's "Airwave" and anything by Mauro Picotto.

After the original owner sold Archaos and closed its doors, Vance took over the decks on a Thursday night at a brilliant little nightclub on Royal Exchange Square called Babaza. Playing mainly uplifting and commercial house music with fellow resident DJ Ian Thomson. The club later changed its name to Be-Lo, Common and most recently The Shimmy Club.

The Sunset Boulevard in Clydebank was another one of Vance's main weekly residencies. He played at 'The Boulie' for 6 years with The Tunnel's Scott McKay and Colin Tevendale. The atmosphere was always electric up in the main room and it was a bit of a tradition that the night didn't end until all the bar staff were dancing on top of the bar.

In the 90s, when the Scottish dance and rave music scene was at its peak, Vance took over the decks as a resident DJ at Hamilton Palace playing alongside Scotland's number 1 hardcore DJ Marc Smith. Music policy at "The Palace" featured the best of Scottish talent including Ultra-Sonic, TTF, Q-Tex, Ultimate Buzz and The Rhythmic State.

In 2005, Vance got his chance to become a promoter, DJ and part-owner at Silver Nightclub in Glasgow's city centre. He was the man responsible for squeezing 1000 people into this custom-made nightclub every Thursday and Saturday night. Queues were right round the corner every week for their amazing (beach) parties and special guest performances from Ultrabeat, Alex K, DJs from Pleasure Rooms & Wigan Pier and many more.

Since then, Vance has continued to keep the dance music flame alive, relentlessly gigging all over Glasgow and the rest of Scotland. He has held residencies at Massa and Berlin in Edinburgh, Barcelona, Cosmopol, Budda, October and many more. Known for his technical mixing ability and crowd-pleasing sets, he has built up a huge following with his residencies at Silver, Archaos, Tunnel and his legendary Sundays at 'Vickies' where he has sold over 500,000 mix CDs.

With this amount of dance music experience, Vance has enabled himself to become a master of keeping up with current trends in the music scene. A chameleon behind the decks, Vance has adapted his sets to suit every venue he performs for. From Melbourne Bounce, Clubland dance, to oldschool classics and commercial house anthems. Making his sets unique and genre defying. A crowd will always be kept on their toes and he never fails to entertain.
