Don Airey is nothing if not prolific. Though currently known as a member of Deep Purple, his keyboard work can be heard on over three hundred albums, placing him among the most recorded players of all time. And this quality of output comes, crucially, with a true seal of quality. Don has toured with the great and the good and had a box seat on some of the most amazing events of rock history.
His first stint with a major rock act came in ‘74 with Cozy Powell’s Hammer, before joining Jon Hiseman, Gary Moore and Neil Murray in the fusion outfit Colosseum II. A Who's Who of classic rock bands followed, including... Black Sabbath, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, Jethro Tull, ELO, Judas Priest, Tony Iommi, Company Of Snakes, Michael Schenker (just to name a few!) with more work with Gary Moore scattered throughout....
Then in 1997 he helped Katrina And The Waves win the Eurovision Song Contest, acting as musical director and performing on the track!
In 2001 he joined Deep Purple at a day's notice, where he's been ever since. Not that any of this activity has stopped him recording some excellent "solo" albums (albeit with full bands behind him!) - K2, Light In The Sky, All Out, Keyed Up, Going Home and most recently One Of A Kind, plus of course two Deep Purple studio albums and a few live recordings!
Don knows pretty much every classic rock musician worth knowing, so expect so truly superb people to form the "& friends" part of this appearance, and a range of songs from throughout his rock history!
