The origin of this band goes back to 2006 when the guitarist, Tony Tomasicchio, decides to leave the rock band "Ragion Pura". So Tony thinks to another kind of music, exactly the "gothic metal". Tony calls quickly Alex Martina, the bass player in the "Abhema", a trash metal band always working in Taranto, to which Roberto Raio, after takes part.

All together they begin to write the first songs, but they need a soprano female voice. The first girl answering to EoM's request is Anja Irullo that sends a file with her pure voice.

The band accepts Anja as the singer of this new group, the ELEGY OF MADNESS. To better complete the form, Marcello Lombardi, a very cleaver keyboard player, closes definitively the group giving it a classical accent

. The band played in many regions of Italy, after NIko realized that His work commitments occlude Him in carrying out the musical activity, setting back the rest of the band, too. So,he decides to record the CD and leave behind the group.

On May 2007, the group has recorded with its own resources His first product, a mini cd which contains 4 songs, entitled "Another Path". Afterwards, NIko was substituted by Roberto Raio who agree with the objectives and the desire to play of the band.

The new "Elegy of Madness" have already taken part to many live exhibitions and competitions, like Sziget Festival 2007, second of the Divine Rock Festival and Music Village ecc.

They always play in pubs or places where the kind of gothic metal music is appreciated with its invading, clear, technic and exact sound, showing the great ability of all its players.

Now the band is looking for new productions. The rest you knew before.

In the same year the first Promo Another Path was released: it melt together gothic and progressive genre, arousing a great interest. After many gigs the band signed the first contract with Sweet Poison Records in 2009 and recorded the first Full Lenght The Bridge of Sighs promoted all over the world through reviews, live performances, radio and television broadcasting, attesting their symphonic metal vocation. In 2013 the Elegy Of Madness signed with WormHoleDeath /Aural Music / Dreamcell 11/ Warner Chappell. On May 2013 they recorded their second Full Length called Brave Dreams in the Real Sound Studio (Parma Italy) mastered by Mike Jussila (FinnvoxStudio-Finland). A Japanese limited edition of Brave Dreams was published, too. On July 2014 they performed at Exit Festival (Novi Sad-Serbia) with Arkona, Sabaton, Skrillex and many other great artists. In 2017 they released the third new album called New Era signing again with WormHoleDeath label. New Era has been recorded at RealSound Studio (Parma, Italy), has been produced by Wahoomi Corvi, Cristian Coruzzi, Carlo Bellotti and Elegy of Madness. It has been mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson at The Grid Studio (Montreal Canada). In July 2017 New Era was released in the U.S.A., at the end of August a special japanese edition will be out and in September it will be finally out in Europe.

In May they started promoting the new album "New Era" with many Italian and European live shows but mainly taking part in festivals like "Balkan Metal Meeting" (Pula - Croatia) and "Zobens un Lemess open air Festival" (Lone - Latvia) playing before great bands such as Amorphis, Batushka and Heidevolk. They also played at "Dream Rock Event" (San Pancrazio-Italy) supporting D.G.M, at "South's Cheyenne metal Fest" supporting Lacuna Coil and at "Taranto Rock Festival" as special guest.

In April 2018 they performed in Ukraine with four gigs, the last one opening Therion live show in Kiev. After some festivals in Italy they opened for the second time Lacuna Coil at MIC rock festival in Villapiana (Cs). On October 2018 Elegy of Madness will be for the first time ever in England with four live show, respectively, in London, Birmingham and Bournemouth.
