Biography

EMBRZ aka Jack Casey, is all about lush melodies, epic moments and a naturally whimsical tone, often laced with nostalgic vocals. His music sonically oozes playfulness, maturity and is emotional electronic music at its core. The self-taught multi-instrumentalist weaves a plethora of influences, to provide rounded and organic sounding music. Finding it difficult to identify with one specific genre, EMBRZs defines himself as a pioneer of emotional dance music.

Dublin-born musician, Jack started out age 10 on the guitar, by age 15 he was playing in bands and writing music. Jack’s musical interests always stretched beyond the guitar, however, it wasn’t until he heard deadmau5, more specifically the anthemic “I Remember”, that he decided to explore the world of electronic music.

As Jack recalls “It’s always been progressive house and the more melodic side of dance music that inspires me. Early teens, I loved metal, rock whatever you wanna call it. I used to constantly wear this Slipknot hoodie which my dad used to joke needed to be surgically removed. I became obsessed with The Stone Roses in my later teens, then once I started listening to artists like Daft Punk and deadmau5, I completely shifted to electronic music.”

EMBRZ’s own productions sit at the more melodic end of the dance music spectrum, “I always try to keep an emotion in my sound,” he says. “But I want to display it in different ways. Be that in something soft and slow paced or something with high energy.”

Jack initially found success with his remixes, most notably Ellie Goulding’s “How Long Will I Love You”, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Run Away With Me” and The 1975’s “Settle Down”. All three remixes showing his versatility as a producer, receiving over 14 million streams between them on Spotify, YouTube and Soundcloud. He then released a steady stream of singles all fostering his signature dreamy sounds and floral synths including solo recordings “Home”, “Lights”, “Heartlines“and “Breathe”.

Within only a few years, he clocked an impressive tally of achievements including several #1s on HYPEM, over 20 million streams on Spotify alone and much support from radio stations such as Sirius XM, RTE (Ireland) and BBC Radio 1. In the same amount of time he’s managed to play some of Ireland’s biggest festivals including Longitude, BodynSoul and Electric Picnic, SXSW, IMS (Ibiza) as well as live shows in Berlin, Brussels and Malta and supported both Shallou and SG Lewis on tour.

2018 Jack continued his upward trajectory with a string of beautiful new releases including ‘Close 2 U’ feat Harvie, ‘Like It Or Not’ feat joan, and ‘She Won’t Let Me Down’ feat Leo Stannard) via Ultra Music chalking up over 2 million streams on Spotify and garnering support from tastemaker media like Clash, Hilly Dilly, Kick Kick Snare, Nialler 9, Chill Nation.

Rumour has it that Jack has been working on a larger body of work. When and what that looks like we are yet to see but we anticipate it could only be a defining sophistication of the trademark EMBRZ sound.
