Ethemia are an acoustic duo with Michaela Mott and Berny Poulton. Although they have only been together 2 ½ years their experience is extensive and professional. Event organisers have described us as “...one of the hardest working bands on the circuit”.
Since their formation they have performed over 240 gigs and appeared on over 40 radio stations including BBC Introducing. Ethemia were nominated to attend BBC Musicians Masterclass 2013.
Their music has been likened to ‘Fleetwood Mac’ and ‘The Beautiful South’ and their chemistry is likened to ‘The Civil Wars’.
Following the independent release of their first album, it has received good reviews including BBC Introducing, Fatea Magazine and recently Gaby Roslin BBC Radio London;

“Ethemia…absolutely amazing! Incredible! …one of my albums of the year” ~ Paul Moss BBC Introducing
“Quirk of Fate… powerful and thought provoking” ~ Neil King Fatea Magazine.
“In a word… Stunning! Ethemia is more on the level of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush’s tender and piquant duet… It is a timeless album” ~ Green Man Music Promotions
“Keep doing what you are doing” Jimmy Hogarth Grammy Award Winning Producer (Duffy, Paolo Nutini, KT Tunstall)
“Nice” ~ Tom Robinson’s Fresh on the Net. BBC 6 Music
As well as performing intimate, larger venues including The Union Chapel & The Natural History Museum London and festivals new and established, we like to put ‘real heart’ into music. We achieve this with our ‘Special Sofa Sessions’ for those who are unable to leave their own home due to illness or disabilities. We have performed to cancer patients of all ages in their own homes and in hospital.
Ethemia are releasing some new singles in 2014 from their 2nd Album 'Pure Intention'.
