Biography

“Ones to keep a beady eye on” - Record Collector Magazine

"Freeda are about to take the scene by storm" - One Great Song

“Freeda are progressing at an alarming rate” - Scruff of the Neck

Freeda are a five piece Indie Rock band from Manchester comprised of Sean Rowles,

Callum Hignett, Cameron Meekums-Spence, Adam Barton and Adam Jackson. Forming in

early 2017 the band spent their first year establishing themselves in their hometown, selling

out headline shows along the way and progressing to 500+ Capacity venues.

In February 2018 Freeda released their debut single ‘Plug It In’, which was recorded by

producers Sugar House (Viola Beach, Pale Waves). Described as an “Impressive

exhilarating debut” by Indie Buddie, the track received attention from tastemaker blogs in

England, Germany and America, leading it to be featured on Hype Machine’s

Spotify playlist.

2018 has since seen the band play two headline shows in Manchester, travel to Paris to

headline the famous Le Truskel Club, perform at Dot 2 Dot festival and play in front of over

3000 people on the Cotton Clouds Festival main stage. With their biggest hometown show

confirmed for the 8th September at Gorilla, Freeda look set to cement their status as one of

Manchester’s fastest growing bands.

Freeda’s upbeat sound takes influences from as far back as early Bob Dylan yet still

manages to sound distinctly modern. Incorporating ‘Johnny Marr esque’ guitar riffs with

hooky vocal melodies and big choruses, the bands music has been described by Northern

Exposure as "Toe-tappin', hip movin', lighter-wavin' indie rock and roll”.

Freeda’s second single Go Home was once again produced by production duo Sugar House

and was released on the 30th August. The track displays a growing maturity in the bands

songwriting which has helped them to establish their own musical identity.

For fans of: Catfish and the Bottlemen & Miles Kane.
