Gitta de Ridder, born March 1986, grew up in a Dutch town called Almere loved singing from the age of 6 and started to write songs and play guitar when she was about 13 years old. Following her dream of a live filled with music she started to study vocals and songwriting at the Rockacademie in Tilburg and after some years of being a vocalist in quite a few bands, she decides to go play her own songs with her guitar. In 2007 she did a 3 week Tour through Germany, she played in the Half finals of the Grolsch Grote Prijs and played at SDSM festival in Italy in the summer of 2008. On the 7th of September 2008 her first EP"confusement park" is released in the Netherlands, which contained 6 songs. Shortly after this release towards the end of September 2008 she moved to London for a 6 month exchange music program to find herself a permanent resident and has lived in the UK ever since. In the years she's been in london she's taken on several persona's in the search for her sound. Part of this search was in the outfit of "Evy for the Kill" a 4 piece rock band and "This Is My TV" a 2 piece with drummer Simeon Rodgers who she later marries in 2013. In the 5 years from 2008 until 2013 she released several EP's and toured around the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and Greece.
Around mid 2013 the realization came that, although enjoying the more electronic and full sound of This Is My TV she missed the realness and heartfelt edge of just her and her guitar. She has since been writing like crazy never being more inspired and energized and will be starting to tour again in 2014 with an EP release planned around mid 2014. "A musical journey that finally feels like coming home" she says.
Inspired by atmospheric singer/songwriters such as Iron & Wine, Bon Iver, Ane Brun and Lou Rhodes you can expect an intense, sincere and pure performance. Songs about silly thoughts, and intense moments, stories that take you away..... Forget the world around you and drown in sound. Read more on Last.fm.
