GLEN BRIELLE is the name of the band project of Hugh Carter. I have been writing new material and recording with a view to releasing an album sometime in the future. I am totally indebted to the guys at my old studio in Glasgow (The Audio Lounge) who have allowed me the space and time to create my music. At the time of writing (4/4/18) I have 5 songs recorded and mixed with another 2 in progress and hope to have a further 3 songs added to the completed album.
It has always been my wish to create my own music as a individual person without the confides of a band situation and I am endevoring to play most of the parts myself although I am enlisting some friends to help with the parts which are beyond me. So far I have had some great help from Pippa Reid-Foster (harp), Fiona Cuthill (violin), Stevie Lawrence (bouzouki, whistles and small pipes), Ruth Rowland (cello) and former Abel Ganz bandmate Jack Webb (Hammond organ). More people will hopefully come on board as required.
The overall feel of the music is prog with folky influences and inspiration has come from all aspects of my personal life and the countryside.
As you may or may not know I was diagnosed with terminal Stage IV lung cancer in 2016 so getting this recording finished and out there really is a bit of an epitaph and chronic tiredness and apathy are my enemies.
