Singer-songwriter Gonne Choi debuted in October 2010 with her first EP, 36.5 ° C. In 2011 Choi was selected as Hello Rookie for the Korean TV show EBS Space Sympathy in which she gained more awareness through her unique voice and guitar melodies.
For Choi’s first full album, I WAS, I AM, I WILL, she was nominated in three categories at the Korean Music Awards in 2015, namely Musician of the Year, Folk Album of the Year and Folksong of the Year. Choi’s back catalogue also includes the mini-albums Good Morning, REAL, XXXY, and NOMAD SYNDROME. Choi continues to expand her musical scope through work across various genres, such as folk, jazz, and rock.
Choi has performed at major music festivals in Korea, including, the Pentaport Rock Festival, Jisan Valley Rock Festival, Jarasum Jazz Festival and the Seoul Jazz Festival. In the concert series 'Breathing Perspective,' which was held over a seven weeks period in 2012, Choi impressed with collaborations with numerous artists.
In 2012, she was the first Asian musician to be invited by Songs & Whispers, a German music network who discover musicians from around the world, subsequently embarking upon a two-month European tour that brought her to the attention of the European World Music scene. In 2013, she won ‘Asia Versus,’ a global audition programme for Fuji TV. She was also invited to the most significant music festival in the world, the Glastonbury Festival, in both 2014 and 2015. In May 2018, she will perform at Liverpool Sound City in the UK.
