Born and bred Londoner, Helen Hurd, immersed herself in music of all genres from a young age, but after a stint providing lead vocals with the ethereal Still Corners, it was rock that eventually stole her heart. With her extensive performance and vocal training, she is a natural in the spotlight and has toured for 6 years across the UK and Europe with various rock tribute bands including Permageddon and BACK:N:BLACK. She has played to thousands of people at the popular biker rally, The Bulldog Bash and formally closed the Rugby World Cup 2015 tournament at Twickenham Stadium, where, as well as entertaining the 80,000 game-goers, she was blasted, live, to the big screen to the 40,000 people in Trafalgar Square.
Permageddon’s 80s rock cover of Adele's 'Hello', has gone viral on Youtube, with many comparing it to Heart and this year she supported ZZ Top at the Sierre Blues Festival with BACK:N:BLACK.
Helen's original project, Helen Hurd and The Mavericks, with her debut EP, This is My Timeline, produces an eclectic collection of catchy riffs and emotive lyrics, with nods towards classic and glam rock, blues, folk and country. Her powerful vocals tie all these influences together and her energetic performances and trademark hair-flicks blasts her onto the original scene as a force to be reckoned with. “Oozing passion and commitment, Hurd's powerful, sultry vocal floats over a classy background filled with slide guitar and strong solos." Rocktopia / Fireworks "Helen's voice, you sense, was always able to go up another gear. She got the Troubadour clapping along in a highly entertaining set." W21Music
