Biography

Indigo Bay source a sound induced by summer sunsets and gentle tides rolling over beaches. Optimistic indie-pop dreams.

With the intent of providing four minutes of entertainment for an audience in aid of Cancer Research, Indigo Bay formed two weeks before the gig.

After the exhilaration from performing on the big stage, they began to write their own material and discover their own sound. Taking inspiration from artists such as The Beatles, Hippo Campus and Corella; they are currently writing within the indie-pop genre.

Leading up to the summer holidays, the four boys composed a suitable set of songs to take outside of the rehearsal room and into the local venues. The lead singer Callum Minks said “Our aim from the beginning was to write feel-good songs that you can dance to. I’ve been to a couple of shows around here and nobody seemed to enjoy the music, or at least it looked like it, and there was no band that had ‘get up and dance’ type music”

Having played several shows in the Grimsby circuit over the summer, they released their debut single, titled “Robin”, on October 5th. There was a strong reception from the release, having reached over 1,000 streams in two months. Not bad for a song that was written and produced by the band.

“Robin” is available on all music platforms.

The band continues to progress and their audience continues to grow at a steady rate. Shortly after the release of “Robin”, they were invited to play in the town centre of Grimsby at the Christmas light switch on, hosted by Compass FM and Lincs FM. On a chilled and frosty night, Indigo Bay performed just two songs, soon to be released single “Midnight Drive” and of course “Robin”. The hundreds of audience members seemed to like the foursome as they received a warm cheer and applause when they went on stage and when they came off. The following day, “Robin” was played for the first time of radio with thanks to Lincs FM.

As 2018 draws to a close, they played their final show of the year at The Spider’s Web. A night filled with laughter and dance was a great way to end the year as they performed a “Tight” and “Well refined” all original set. One audience member commented that “They play as a whole unit now, not separate musicians playing the same songs together as they were a couple of months ago.” As the boys take a break over the Winter holiday and reflect on the year they’ve had. They will also be thinking about what the new year will bring. All that there is to be said is that 2019 is looking to be a successful one for this passionate band, filled with shows and releases.
