Forged in the baron frost of Scottish winter in 2015, savage vocalist Andrew Callis (Ex-Torn Face and Out By Degrees) and unholy shred master Daniel Drever started to recruit some of the most renowned artists in the underground metal scene to create this bone-crunching project known as IRON ALTAR Originally forming with Lyle Brown (King Witch and Sapien) and Simon Anger (Ex - King Witch and Dvne) they strove to produce the relentless raw savage sound of the Scottish underground. Combining their love of dominating gut punch stoner sludge savagery (Crowbar) and contemporary interwoven mind fuckery of progressive technical death metal (Gojira and Mastodon), their first E.P. was fashioned. The "Iron Altar EP" was released on the 22nd of August 2016 to great acclaim. Shortly there after Lyle and Simon stepped down to pursue other projects, and the search was back on. First found was visceral riff cutter Neil " Squee " Mathers (God Damn Brewery and Ex-Edgeville Hellride) becoming the second guitarist. Layering on thick interweaving grooves fleshing out the vast and relentless sound. Shortly there after manic skin basher Lindsay " Linz " Conway (Ex-Firebrand Super Rock and Secta Rouge) joined, accelerating the overall pace of the band and solidifying the clenched fist/adrenaline filled tone of the project. Finally they acquired the fresh faced chaotic thunder merchant Jamie "Skougz" Scougall, bringing a drop or 2 of new (but battle hardened) blood into the mix adding a real sense of depth crystallizing the current sound of IRON ALTAR and solidifying this band in the local scene. They’re currently capturing under card spots on insane bills including Monolord, Big Business, Doyle and Conan.
