James Maddock is quietly becoming one of the breakout musical stories of 2010. With the release of the exquisite song cycle, Sunrise on Avenue C, Maddock has re-established himself as one of the most respected singer/songwriters on the scene. Maddock was born in Leicester, England and grew up surrounded by music. Between listening to his grandfather on the ukulele and his father on the trombone, he quickly found that music was in his blood.

After fronting the Columbia Records band ‘Wood’, whose debut ‘Songs From Stamford Hill’ was featured prominently on TV shows such as “Dawson’s Creek, and the Track ‘Stay You’ was also a BBC Radio 2 ‘Record of the Week’, Maddock moved from England to New York City in 2003. His 2009 album Sunrise On Avenue C won a New York Music Award for Best Americana Album, while follow-up Wake Up And Dream ranked among the top albums of 2011 in WFUV’s (NYC) Listener Poll. James has performed live with Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, Willie Nile and other legendary figures in American music. According to radio legend Vin Scelsa, Maddock’s “heartbreakingly beautiful and exquisitely crafted” music “touches the soul.” As a songwriter, James currently has a song (“Actress”) on Gary Barlow’s new album, co-written with Barlow, and a cut (“Fragile”) on the Dirt On My Tongue album by emerging UK artist Jo Harman. He was formerly named by ‘Rolling Stone’ as the ‘man to watch’ and his songs have been featured on both mainstream US TV andHollywood blockbuster films.
