Led by Jeanice as the main songwriter, vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Jeanice Lee is a 4-piece, female-fronted, modern melodic rock band bringing you a spectrum of rock songs with poetic lyrics, edgy melodies and dark undertones that explore the self, the system and the world; delivered with powerful vocals, high energy and strong emotions. That overarching dark mood and styling of the music has prompted some to call it “dark rock”, showcasing Jeanice’s “mesmerising voice” (Small Music Scene) and “power and melodic excellence” (Independent Music Showcase).

Jeanice began the journey to pursue her musical dream late in life even though music has always played a big part. Her song-writing style is characterised by beautifully written lyrics that tell descriptive stories and paint vivid imageries; distinctive vocal melodies that captivate the listeners’ attention; and an underlying dark feel. With her only started learning the guitar in autumn 2016, she knew she needed help to develop her songs. At a music production course she enrolled in in winter 2016, she met fellow student Marco Morelli who became her lead guitarist shortly after hearing her voice during the course. Marco accompanied Jeanice at open mics and small gigs playing her songs in acoustic arrangements while she progressed with her guitar-playing and gained experience as a performer. They started arranging and writing some songs together, but it soon became very apparent that they require a full band to realise the potential of the music.

After going through a few unsuitable candidates, the full line-up of the band was finally completed when Leen joined as the bass player in early 2018, followed by Graeme Hamilton as the drummer in the summer. Over the next few months, the band gigged as much as possible to bond and get their live performance tight; and worked on the full band arrangements featuring Marco’s neoclassical guitar riffs and solos, Leen’s stylish and driving bass lines, and Graeme’s tight and contemporary drumming. They went on to record their debut album “Beyond Never” in autumn 2018. Despite being given the opportunity to choose a band name, the guys unanimously concluded that “Jeanice Lee” is in fact the band they have signed up to play in.

“Beyond Never” was self-released via Horus Music on 21 March 2019. The band has gained airplay on numerous radio stations in Scotland, England and Spain so far. And after their successful, sold-out album launch show in Edinburgh, they will take their headline show Beyond Never LIVE to Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen, as well as playing in other gigs throughout the year.
