Jemmala is a British/Nigerian artist, who embodies a futuristic ensemble in her music. Her take on cultural sounds stems from the upbringing spent abroad in different countries other than her own. She is Influenced by western guitars, East African and Indian Instruments mixing these with digital 808 bass lines.
Jemmala’s inspiration for songwriting is based on using her voice as an instrument, growing up in Tanzania with the Maasai who utilise their voice the same way. Coming to the UK and seeing a digital age at the cusp in the 2000’s her next journey began.
From being exposed to music videos on TV and lyrics inside of CD covers it led her to write songs as young as 9 to now writing the blueprint for the upcoming E.P 'The Wild West' as her introduction to the music industry many years later. Jemmala Is showcasing her ability to push boundaries to a forward-thinking view on music as she is producing / co-producing the E.P and scriptwriting the visual concept for the feature film.
