When it comes to natural gift and talent, none come quite as raw as Jermaine Peterson. Born 1988 in Manchester, a city that possesses a diverse and rich heritage of musicians that have broken boundaries and rewritten the musical rulebook: Jermaine is set to be no different. Jermaine grew up with music being the constant backdrop to his life, from the age of 4 he played the Steel Pans and under the watchful eye of his Pan teacher/mentor, his musical abilities flourished and resulted in Jermaine playing for several high profile events. Jermaine performed on television shows such as, ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ (aged 7) and ‘Blue Peter’ (aged 9). His proudest achievement as a young Steel Pan player came when he performed for HM The Queen as she arrived at Manchester Victoria Station (aged 11). It was no surprise that by the age of 19, Jermaine was a Steel Pan teacher around Manchester. In 2013, Jermaine joined a reggae/dub outfit called ‘The Strugglaz’ as a vocalist and quickly cemented a place in the Manchester music scene before moving to Leeds and establishing his own band and sound. With a strong soulful voice and a meticulous ear for music, Jermaine is able to flow naturally between genres such as soul, reggae and spoken word with a proficiency that cements one fact – The man has a gift. But it doesn’t stop there, once his velvet tone has hit your ears and settled, then you realise that asides from the voice, Jermaine Peterson is an artist with a lot to say.
