Kasra Vaseghi is a DJ and record producer, born and raised in Tehran, but now based in London where he has built a solid reputation on the city’s underground circuit as host of the biweekly “Paradise Show” on NTS Radio, curator of the Dance playlist for 22Tracks and as resident DJ at Love In Public Spaces, the party offshoot of the vinyl-only label that released his first two EPs Atlantis and The Persian Prince.
Growing up, Kasra was inspired by his aunt’s vast tape and record collection of disco rarities and cosmic boogie, and from the age of 16 began honing his craft as a DJ by sneaking off to play at illegal raves and house parties that he was too young to attend otherwise. With the help of his grandmother, he is currently working on a compilation of hard to find party jams from pre-revolution Iran that sound tracked these long nights and mornings.
Kasra’s distinct musical upbringing has left him with a digger’s mentality that’s geared toward a mix of purist house grooves, Balearic rhythms and synth heavy disco stylings, all imbued with a distinct middleEastern edge and his experiences at home and abroad have informed an experimental, dance floor orientated approach to house music that does as much for the mind as it does for the body.
