Keara is a stand-up comedian, writer, presenter and Burns’ speaker. She has taken 9 one-woman shows to The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Brighton Fringe and The Glasgow Comedy Festival.
She have performed stand-up all over Scotland, Ireland, the U.K. and Central Europe. She has performed comedy on BBC Radio on a variety of shows including, Stand-Up For Pudsey, Feeling Kind Of Funny and Live at The Stand.
Her BBC character comedy series, The Shark’s Mouth, was commissioned and produced by The Comedy Unit and went out on BBC Radio Scotland in 2013.
A spin-off sitcom, Mistress MacKenzie and Friends was then commissioned and went out on BBC Radio Scotland in 2014.
She has participated in many ways at Burns Suppers over the years and across the Globe.
Keara is the author of three plays on Robert Burns: Mice and Women, The Secret Sex Life of Robert Burns and The Bard and I and she published journalistic article about the women who influenced him to write, entitled, Robert Burns Was A Feminist.
Keara has written and presented a series of documentaries on the life of Robert Burns for BBC Radio Scotland over the past three years: The Secret Sex Life of Robert Burns, The Secret Tax Life of Robert Burns and The Secret Rock ‘n’ Roll Life of Robert Burns. The series was then featured on BBC Radio 4’s “Pick of the Week†twice - one in 2015 – chosen by Scotland’s Poet Laureate, Jackie Kaye; and again by Helen Lederer in 2017.
